VANTI is a project (1996-1998) within the Advanced Communication and Technologies Services Programme (ACTS) funded by the European Commission.
The ACTS programme is part of the Fourth Framework programme of the Community in the field of Research and Technological Development (RTD) and represents the European Commission's (EC's) major effort to support precompetitive RTD in the field of telecommunications.
Activities within the project are expected to contribute to the general ACTS objectives such as:
- sustainable development and improving the quality of life of the community's citizens yielding concrete advantages to be delivered in the short, medium and long term.
- social integration of a wide variety of people through the provision of accessibility to services by able, elderly and disabled citizens.
- cohesion of the European service provision through the utilisation and support of various types of access terminal and different communication networks.
