 MD was mainly concerned with the development of the user model server and the
adaptation of the hypermedia document description to the user's needs. It was responsible for workpackage 2 and also contributed to workpackage 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
- WP1: GMD contributed to the identification of the information and adaptation needs of users of the hypermedia information system (WP1.1). It was assisted by the Association of the Representatives of Handicapped Employees in the German Research Organizations (AVS).
- WP2: GMD developed the Information Resource Control structure (WP2.1), the content model of information in the data base (WP2.2), and the user model server (WP2.3). Moreover, GMD assisted in defining the relations between the Information Resource Control Structure and the databases.
- WP4: GMD adapted the contents of the hypermedia page descriptions to the needs of the current user (WP4.3). It cooperated with FORTH in WP4.2 with respect to monitoring the interaction of the user with the interface in order to infer assumptions about user characteristics.
- WP5: GMD assisted Alcatel in the integration of the prototype components that GMD developed into an overall system.
- WP6: GMD evaluated the user interface of the hypermedia information system using the EVADIS II method (Oppermann et al. 1992).
- WP7: GMD exploited the results of the project in scientific publications.
- WP8: GMD contributed to the management of the project in its role as a workpackage responsible.
